Acer LaptopI purchased an Acer Aspire on Black Thursday in 2004. I had no trouble until 2 months ago when it began shutting down as soon as it started up. Was diagnosed as mother board. I paid $496 + tax. Cost about $100 per year ...doesn't sound like a bad deal to me. Not sure what to replace it with after hearing all this.

Acer Laptopdell laptop & desk top I bought an Inspiron Dell which was good untill I had the full Guarantee coverage when I returned to India. Since then starting March the Dell had slowed down a lot and is troubling nmy work very much The Worst part is Dell India never care to repair or provide proepr support. Further I bought a Dell PC where for adjusting the prices they sent junk attachments like Card reader etc which when asked said you please return the PC which was not possible for me so accepted with great concern and started writing to Dell but it goes to Dead ears as no one cares. rajan
Hp PavilionI purchased HP pavilion dv 6000 in 2007. The problem started after six months and motherboard gone. I changes motherboard and again in few days, it again gone. I asked the service centre then they told me that there is soem problem in processor due to which motherboard always fused. They again repaired but again in three months, the motherboard again got corrupted. I already suffered a lot due to this HP. Their service centre is very poor.
I want to buy a good laptop with 4gb ram, 250GB or more hard drive, 2GHz Intel Pentium Dual-Core or more. and it costs about $450-$550.
Hp PavilionI got a HP pavilion last december, it was working fine untill march, after that the whole laptop heats up like a oven @ 600F and cannot be called anymore a "LAPtop" its always on a desk. The design of the laptop is worst, bcoz the air vent is exactly in the rear and hence if any object placed near that will cause the laptop to switch off the power and whatever you do will be right royally shutdown. Pls do NOT go for this HP pavilion laptops, even my friend is facing the same problem!

Acer LaptopLJ on 02-01-2010 Laptop I bought an Acer laptop in the Fall of 2008, it wasn't a month after i had bought it that it Blue Screened and began to have serious issues with freezing up. The following summer I sent it to Acer in BC and they had "fixed" it, and nothing changed for me, it still blue screened, adn froze constantly. Christmas of 2009 I took it to the retailer who found the problem but the cost would be out of my pocket, so i had them "fix" it too. Nothing has changed, if anything it has gotten worse. Never buying an Acer again. This dude is the gay lover of the dude listed below; and they both blow!;)
Acer LaptopEJ on 12-23-2009 Laptop OMG, don't buy an Acer laptop! I got screwed by their (lack of) support people. Bought an Aspire 8730, and found that it had a defective right shift key. Acer makes the customer pay to have it shipped to them for repair, so I paid UPS $50US and sent it to them. They sent it back to me saying that there was nothing wrong with it! I'm not a newbie. I know how a keyboard is supposed to work. Everyone I've ever let type on it has said the same thing: "What's wrong with the shift key?". The last thing I wanted to do was to pay to ship it right back to them and have absolutely no guarantee that they would actually fix it. So I hung on to it and tried to make do by buying an external keyboard. Now, the "x" key is failing too, so I called them. They said that since I didn't send it back within 60 days (or 90, or 30 depending on which rep I contacted), I would indeed have to pay to ship it to them again. I pointed out that there was no notification of such a time limitation, and was told that there is no notification because it's "a courtesy". I pointed out that first, they sold me a defective laptop, then their service was defective because they failed to detect the fault, and now they want me to pay to ship it again. Why should I do that? They didn't fix it the first time. Why should I believe that they would fix it this time? It's their fault that they didn't fix it the first time I shipped it, & it should be their responsibility to pay to ship it this time. So I've contacted a local television station's consumer advocate, and am beginning a search to find others who have had to put up with this type of "service". When I do, it'll be time to contact a lawyer about a class action lawsuit. This dude is totally full of shit!
Acer LaptopDo not buy Acer. There is no support. They do not honor the warranty. You can not get parts. They are assembled from what ever surplus parts that are cheapest that day. When you try to repair by replacing the part they used, if it was identified, it will not be available. DVD drives are not available, for example. Avoid all their products. They are cheap for a reason.
ToshibaOkay, so Toshiba were the very first laptop I had. The first one I had worked fine until, the screen brooke. Appartently it wasn't sturdy enough for me and my brother to have. This second one only work on safe mode.
Hp PavilionHP Pavilion DV2 1003AX simply sucks to the MAX. My experience with it was the dark time of my life. Buy, Use, REGRET, CURSE, and finally sell it away mud cheap.
Acer LaptopFor those that slammed ACER tell me how ACER came to be #2 laptop Seller. Many must like them.
