The Portege R family of laptops from Toshiba has always been admirable. Portege R705, the new member of the family, too carries features that make it one of the top-selling devices of 2010. The best part of this device is that it gives the looks of an expensive device, but is available at an affordable price tag.

Portege R705 is thin and has a sturdy design. The keyboard included in the design has keys that are highly comfortable while typing. Moreover, it has a wide touchpad which further adds to the overall user experience. The 13.3 inch LED screen with 1,366 x 768 pixel resolution is perfect for full-time computing usage. The Wireless Display technology from Intel allows the laptop’s screen to be beamed to a monitor or TV located remotely.

The 2.26GHz Intel Core i3 processor included in the design makes the laptop fast and allows a number of tasks to be done efficiently. ReelTime and Toshiba Bulletin Board application are among the many software utilities that this laptop offers. There are 3 USB 2.0 ports, including one port with USB and eSATA functionality. Also included in the design is an SD card reader, a VGA port and an HDMI port.

On the flip side, Portege R705 lacks dedicated graphics that would have further enhanced its popularity. The battery life is not that impressive too and the laptop also misses a backlit keyboard. However, the features available on the Laptop and the reasonable price tag make it a device worth considering.
