Sony has entered into the computer market in the year 1997 with the PCV series of desktops. The Sony Vaio stands for Video Audio Integrated Operation, a brand slogan for many of Sony's computer products. It has created a distinguished item that includes the use of consumer’s audio and video, as well as the conventional computing products. The Sony's Vaio new series functions same as a regular PC, but is miniature in size to be easily portable.

The laptops may seem to be too bulky with arrival of the ultra slim and small Sony VAIO UX series.

The Sony Vaio UX lowest priced model is the UX180P which is priced approximately US$1,799. Other options are a Compact Flash slot with different keyboard configurations. The most expensive one is with a CF slot and full English keyboard, which comes at approximately US$2,199. The 1.15 lb Sony Vaio UX series features a 1.2 GHz Core Solo processor, slide-out backlit keyboard, touch screen, Bluetooth, and two cameras.
