My Compaq Presario CQ50 died 144 days out of warranty when the "hard disk controller" on the motherboard failed. Hewlett-Packard/Compaq refused to offer any consideration or assistance, advising that I should have bought an extended warranty. I responded that they should have built a machine that lasted more than 4 months past its original warranty. I will not buy another H-P or Compaq product.
