ASUS G50 Series

ASUS is the pioneer in the computing technology that has been offering some of the best entertainment laptops. Adding one more milestone to its gaming notebook computers is the G50 Series. The products of the series are built on the Intel Mobile technology that offers easy yet powerful computing from any place you want. There are several connectivity features that allow you to connect to the internet whenever you want, using wired, or wireless methods.

The Grand Display on the G50 Series

The ASUS G50 Series comes with a minimum of 15-inch display that can go up to 15.7 inches. The G50V has a display of 15.6 inches’ display. The graphics is powered by the NVIDIA GE Force graphics accelerator driver to offer you real time redraws so that you play real time games on the internet.

The display is 16:9 which means you get superb NTSC videos. The inbuilt convertor takes care that you can also watch square pixels in the PAL videos. Overall, the display supports both non-square and square pixels without destroying the quality of the image. The NTSC non-square pixels offer greater quality when you watch videos encoded in the NTSC format.

Built in Camera and Recording

Just above the display is the 2MP camera. The camera is a swivel that can turn up to 240 degrees in G50V. The camera doubles up as a video capturing device. You can use a special built in software to initiate and record whatever you want and then playback the same on the grand display of 15.6 display of the laptop and on your TV using the TV out.

Please note that the camera captures video in the non-square pixels. You may need third party software such as Windows Media Encoder to convert the video into PAL. However, PAL is almost out of date so there is not much tension about that.

Inside the Notebooks

The laptop is powered by Core 2 Duo processor that allows you to multitask among the software that are more demanding upon the CPU resources. Most of the models in the series have the HDD up to 700 GB. The G50 V, for instance, has a 640GB of hard drive space using two 320GB HDDs. The 17-inch ASUS G71V has the HDD space f 1TB. It holds two HDDs of 500 GB each. This is why the G71V is called the terabyte computer.

All the laptops in the series come with up a minimum of 2GB RAM that can go up to 4GB of DDR2 system memory. Most models, such as the G71V has the Intel Turbo Memory 2.0 that enhances system responsiveness. The model also supports the Blu Ray Optical Disks.
