ASUS Bamboo Series
The bamboo series was released by ASUS as part of its efforts towards offering green computing. The bamboo series indeed gives you an effect that the laptop is created using bamboo sticks. The exterior has bamboo finish. ASUS has taken care of the environmental aspect from the conception to its use to recycling. The Bamboo Laptops are fully recyclable when the chassis is concerned, unlike other models that use plastics that stay as such for long when disposed.
The Display
The Bamboo Series carries two display sizes. The first is the 11.1 inch and the second is the 12.1 inch. The best thing about both the displays is that they are supported by the Intel trademark GMA technology for quick refreshes that offers you flicker free pictures when you are playing games on the internet. The Graphics are powered by the NVIDIA GE Force Graphics drivers that allow you to enjoy in depth images that resemble true to life images.
Functions on the Lid
Just above the display are two microphones and one Webcam of 1.3 MP. The 1.3 MP camera is capable of taking snaps of high resolution (photo quality). Alternatively, you can also capture motion using one of the many preinstalled software that come with the Bamboo series. The ASUS Bamboo Series comes preloaded with Vista for easy access to the different devices, especially the SATA HDDS. The computers using XP did have the SATA enabled HDD, but the operating system could not use it easily. Most of the people using XP on their laptops have no option but to forget about the SATA feature, that increases the data access rate by many times.
The speakers are located at the sides of the monitor or on the lower part. Altec Lansing speakers give you a sweet sound though it is not backed up by the Dolby surround sound. The speakers are a pair that is located either on the sides of the display or on the front of the keyboard, near the hinge.
Inside the computer
The Bamboo series available in 12.1-inch is powered by Intel Core Duo (T9400/P8600/P8400) processor. It contains up to 4GB of RAM as well as up to 320GB HDD.
The 11.1-inch model comes with a Core Duo U7600 processor. It carries up to 4GB of RAM. This model offers you a choice of opting for either a 120GB hard drive or 32GB SSD.
