ASUS B50 Series
The B50 series is designed by ASUS keeping in mind, the business computing needs of businesspersons and office executives. The sleek and stylish notebook may give you a feel that it has more of entertainment features but unfortunately, the notebook focuses more on the business needs and has been designed accordingly.
Specialties:
The notebook series carries a spill resistant keyboard with ample place with palm rest. The touchpad is positioned between the two palms so that it does not interfere with typing. You can type easily with your eyes on the keypad.
The touchpad is fully customizable. You can also use the tap zones on the touchpad to launch a program of your choice or to shut down the computer. You may turn off the touchpad if you are new to the touchpad and use an external mouse instead.
The battery offers a life of 5 hours upon full charge. The keyboard is lit with LED (light emitting diodes) so that you can easily type even in the dim lit rooms.
Inside the B50 Series
The notebook computer is powered by Intel core Duo Processors (T9400, P8400, P8600, and T5757). The base of the notebook is the Intel Mobile GM45 express chipset that allows you to interact with different components of the computer at much greater speeds. The built in cache ranges from 256 to 512 MB in the B50 series.
The memory that the B50s carry are DDRII 800 MHz, ranging from 2 GB to 4 GB. The HDDs range from 120 GB to 350 GB in the series. All the HDD are supported by the SATA technology. It is recommended that you use Vista so as to make use of the SATA facility. Windows XP will not recognize the SATA HDD as SATA but will treat it as a normal ATA Hard Disk.
The Display and Camera
Most of the laptops in the series carry a 15.4 inch display, backlit by LED as against Plasma, that tend to increase the cost while providing the same quality pictures. The resolution one can gain on the B50 is up to 1280 x 800. The graphics are powered by Intel GMA X4500 high definition to give you true-to-life images.
Just above the display is a webcam that you can use for chatting. The webcam doubles up as a video camcorder whenever you want. The 1.3 Mega Pixels camera offers you great resolution still images. The quality of video capturing is of the SDVD quality. You may use the inbuilt software to capture, edit, and play the video on the laptop screen.
