All About Apple PowerBook

The Apple PowerBook introduced the first portable laptop computer "POWERBOOK" in the year 1991. The Apple PowerBook laptop had got many alterations during it's life time form 1991 to 2006 to incorporate it's features. The year 1976 April 1 the Apple Inc., an American Multinational Corporation established. The PowerBook received many awards like Industrial Design Excellence Awards "Gold" status in the year 2001 and Engadget's 2005 "Laptop of the Year". The the year 1994 it introduced a PowerBook, this PowerBook contained a tochpad which is not in the early laptops. In the year 2001 Apple produced a Titanium PowerBook. This Laptop PowerBook is 99.5% pure titanium body and 15.2" wide screen. It's CPU speed is up to 500MHz and it is one inch thick.

PowerBook Models:

Early Apple PowerBooks: The PowerBooks 100, 140 and 170 were introduced by the Apple in the year 1991. The PowerBook 100 is low-end one, PowerBook140 is a powerful and 170 is high-end PoweBook. These three models are popular with their compact design, use of a trackball and a nice positioned keyboard. The PowerBook Duo is a hybrid portable, very thin and lightweight Apple Laptop released in the year 1992. This laptop can be featured with connectors, extra video memory and storage facility. In the year 1992 the PowerBooks 100, 140 and 170 were replaced by 145, 160 and 180. These three new models contain external monitor. In the PowerBook 180 introduced with the active-matrix gray scale display.

The Apple PowerBook 500 series:In the year 1994 PowerBook 500 series started, it's named as Blackbrid. At the time these models were more faster and sleeker than other. These PowerBooks introduced with DSTN or active-matrix LCD displays, trackpad and speakers. These were also featured with the in-built Ethernet networking and PCMCIA slots.

The Apple PowerPC era: The next PowerBook model is PowerPC, in this first models were 5300 and 2300c, these two were released on the same day. 5300 introduced with a TFT display of 800x600 pixels, 117MHz PPc, 32 MB of RAM and a hot-swappable drive bay. 1997 by introducing three new PowerBooks: the PowerBook 1400, the PowerBook 2400, intended as a slim, sleek sub-notebook and the luxury PowerBook 3400 model . The 1400 and 3400 Powerbooks were included with internal CD drive.

The Apple PowerBook G3:In the year 1998 the Apple released the G3 series PowerBooks. These G3 series PowerBoooks were included with various features such as 12'', 13'' and 14'' screens, dual drive bays to accommodate floppy drives, CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives and hard drives, extra batteries and these modes were in different processing speeds like 233MHz to 300MHz.

The second series of Apple G3 PowerBooks named "PDQ" was released in later 1998. These were featured with L2 cache memory and lowest-priced models. Apple introduced a lighter, faster and thiner powerBook named "Lombard" in the year 1999, with the speed 333 and 400MHz. It included with both USB and SCSI built in and ROM Mac. In the year 2000 Apple introduced another G3 model "Pismo" it contained two FireWire ports, increased the bus speed up to 100MHz and DVD-ROM. The Apple Laptops are very powerful.

The Apple PowerBook G4: Apple introduced new PowerBook with titanium covers and a 15.2'' wide screen named Aluminium PowerBook G4 in the year 2001. It is a G4 series PowerBook included with the Power PC G4 processor. This Apple PowerBook G4 is very lighter than other models, this models were nicknamed with TiBooks. These models introduced with different processor speeds such as 400 MHz, 500 MHz, 550 MHz, 667 MHz, 800 MHz, 867 MHz, and 1 GHz. These models featured with a front-mounted slot-loading optical drive into. Apple released the largest screen and smallest full-featured PowerBooks in the year 2003. These two Apple PowerBook models are featured with DVD-burning capabilities, Bluetooth, LCD display with 12.1'' and 17'' and AirPort Extreme networking.
